We welcome you to Windmill Angus. Our ranch started raising Registered Angus in 1953. Rich Peterson bought some top angus cows and started improving on the Angus cows of the day. Rich raised big bulls when the trend was for very small bulls. These performance bulls are still what we raise. We are leaders in the breed for high growth easy calving bulls with carcass numbers as a priority. Rich always made it a point to stay away from the fads of the day and stay focused on quality cattle that the real cowman could use. Rich's father George Peterson started raising Angus in the 30's when black was not something you bragged about but now in the 2000's there is nothing better. The ranch has changed to the third generation - Alex Peterson now operates the Registered Angus ranch, George Peterson operates the Registered Gelbvieh and commercial ranches both located around Haigler, Nebraska and Ellen & Gene Nelson operate a commercial cattle ranch in the panhandle of Nebraska. The ranch is located on the beautiful Republican river in the lower south west corner of Nebraska. The ranch has land in three states Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado. We receive 13 to 15 inches of moisture and the grass is mostly Buffalo grass. The land is big and rough some being sand hills and the rest hard clay type soil. Hard country which requires sound footed cattle that can maintain themselves well. We welcome visitors anytime so feel free to stop by for a look. The Petersons
